Missing all my save files - please help :(

Hi! I was playing for a couple of hours today, everything seemed fine, no game crashes or anything like that. Right when I was about to get off the game, I noticed a couple of my builds were missing in the world I was playing in. I checked all the other worlds and everything was gone, everything was reset to default. I don't even have any of my saved households. The only lot and household that's there is the one I was most recently playing on. 

I did exit the game at one point to quickly purchase a kit I wanted to complete one of my sims. When I went back in the game, everything was fine, my saved family was still up on the menu screen. When I finished the sim and was about to put her in a house I had pre-built, I noticed the lot was reset to the original. I didn't think anything of it, luckily I saved the lot to my gallery beforehand so I just placed the lot and started playing. I did notice that there were the achievements when you first start off in the sims like "open needs panel" or "start a new skill" etc. but I rarely start new households so I didn't think anything of it and just thought maybe it was part of a new update?

I think when I downloaded the kit is the exact time everything got deleted. 

I checked my save folder, everything is gone aside from the saves I have from today. I've gone through multiple discussion posts, forums, reddits, almost everything and I think I've tried it all. 

This sounds dramatic but I am absolutely devastated, I had years worth of builds and households on there. I've never had a problem with missing save files, I've spent so much time and money on the game it's so upsetting. I know I could just replace everything from my gallery but it's not the same, I spent so much time building up skill/career levels and all the relationships and everything. I feel like if I cant get my saves back, I don't even want to play anymore

Please if someone can help, I would appreciate it so so much

    Please open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy and paste the following search command then hit Enter/Return:

    find / -type f -name "*Slot_*" 2>/dev/null

    After a little while it will return the results of the search. You'll know when it's finished searching because the command prompt will reappear. Please copy and paste the results in a post here. It may take a while to return the results so be patient šŸ™‚

    Hi all!

    After some years of not playing, I wanted to started up the SIms 4 again. However, the Origin app was not working. Then I saw on the Sims 4 website there was a new EA-app, so I downloaded it. When I started up my Sims 4, there was no 'saved games' button anymore, as if it was a new game. However, it still has my expansion packs and showed how many hours I played. My saved game are still in my documents in the ' Electronic Arts' doc. Does anyone have any idea what happend and how I can get my saved games back? I can't find any article online that can help me with this.

    @Bluebellflora Update: I was playing a little bit just now, my game froze up and I had to force quit it. When I reopened the game, everything was back to normal. I'm not too sure why that happened but I'm happy nonetheless.

    Oh great šŸ™‚ For reference, there are two save files in the output from Terminal which should load:

    /Users/harleyledward/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves/Slot_00000003.save
    /Users/harleyledward/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves/Slot_00000002.save

    The rest are all backups of those saves.

    That is a lot! I can see you have saves in multiple locations which is why they aren't loading. The saves you want to load must look something like this:

    Slot_00000002.save

    Begin with Slot_ then have eight numbers/letters then end .save. If they have any additional numbers they won't load. The ones ending .verX where the X is numbers 1-4 are backup saves.

    The saves MUST BE directly in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. Anywhere else, like the Applications folder, or a folder called Electronic Arts 2, and they won't load.
