Mod issues on external drive

Hi! I have been receiving the following error message every time I try to move CC into my Mods folder: "Cannot start because the below file appears to be corrupted." with the file name of the CC. I have deleted everything in my mods folder and tried to upload items in there one by one and I get the same message no matter what I move in there.

I tried to upload a mod that I know has been recently updated by its creator and still no luck. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, I've repaired the game multiple times, I've tried moving items into the folder while the EA app is closed, I've deleted the the cache file and none of the CC or mods I download seem to work. My game is stored on my external hard drive and so is my mods folder, maybe that has something to do with it? Also it's telling me to reinstall the game via Origin but I'm playing on the EA app. Attached is a screenshot of my TS4 folder and the error message I receive. The game works fine when I delete everything out of the Mods folder.

Yes, more than likely. Did you move the whole Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder to the external drive and create a symlink to it in Documents or just the Mods folder and create a symlink to the Mods folder on the external? The external hard drive must be properly formatted. If you haven't correctly formatted the drive before creating the symlink you won't be able to use Mods, it's explained in my guide here  https://bluebellflora.com/saving-your-sims-4-folder-to-an-external-drive/

Edit - Ah I see the first screenshot now, for some reason it didn't load earlier. You've moved the entire EA folder. The drive format is still relevant. If it's exFAT formatted that is the issue.
