Moving mods to external drive, deleting them off hard drive

Hi!

im quite new at mods and have followed instructions to put my game on an external drive. It has worked until I moved mods to external drive and deleted them off of my computer. How do I go about this? I got an external drive to make storage on my computer but now the game isn’t working after I delete the downloads off of my computer! What am I doing wrong?
