Solved

My Electronic Arts folder is now a file

So whenever I have been clicking on my game recently it's been saying "The sims 4 is still running." I've been trying to follow this solution I found but it requires me to move my Sims 4 folder to my desktop so when I launch the game it creates a new one, then I can transfer my saves into the new folder. But I realized my Electronic Arts folder is a file with an arrow on the bottom left corner. At this point, I don't even care if I have to lose my saves, I just want to be able to play the game.

Here are my specs:

  • Model Name: MacBook Pro
  • Model Identifier: MacBookPro17,1
  • Chip: Apple M1
  • Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency)
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Are you attempting to play the normal version of the game or the Legacy Edition? - Normal Version
  • Are you running any antivirus? - No
  • Have you tried to repair the game in Origin? - Yes, didn't work
  • Do you use CC/Mods? - I do use CC/Mods but I took them out and it didn't work

Thanks 🙂 Can. you move the Electronic Arts folder that is in Documents - Sophia's MacBook Pro so it is directly in Documents?

  • On my old laptop I did, but I never created a symlink on this current computer. Could this be because of iCloud drive?

Yeah, that was going to be my second question 🙂

Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

find ~ -type d -name "*Electronic Arts*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

    /Users/sophialekeufack/Documents/Documents - Sophia’s MacBook Pro 🏈/Electronic Arts

  • I can move it to be directly in the documents folder. It's asking "An older item named “Electronic Arts” already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the newer one you’re moving?" Should I click replace?

If you click replace you will lose the contents of the original folder. Rename it then move the one I referenced directly into the Documents folder.
