My sims 4 game is broken

After the newest update my sims game won't shut down. When I click on the three dots up in the corner, nothing happens. I can go out of the game but I can't shut it down. I have taken out all of my mods and I have tried every single thing people have recommended. EA doesn't say anything on what I should do. What should I do and has this happened to anyone else??

@tiptiptipoldemor You're saying when you click the three dots, nothing at all happens, like you can't access the in-game options either? What about if you click the esc key instead?

Please also let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS. If Windows, restart your computer before trying to play, and don't open anything aside from the EA App itself.

Yes when I click the three dots nothing comes up, clicking the esc key also does nothing. My computer is a Mac.
