Playing game off external hard drive on Mac

hello! I am not the best with computers so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I tried to start playing my game off an external hard drive I got off Amazon and I was wondering how do I make it so that the game doesnt redownload every time I delete it off my mac, and instead play off my external hard drive's copy of Sims along with all of the CC i have on it. Ive tried watching Youtube videos but theyre all with Windows and dont really help since I'm on mac. thanks in advance.

    Do you mean that every time you load the game it is like new with none of your saves loading? Your saves must be stored on the internal drive on your Mac in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. You can install the game through Origin on an eternal drive but all user data is stored in your Documents folder. If the game doesn't read a Sims 4 folder then it will recreate a new one.
