Do you think it’s going dark because another window should appear? Similar to the world screen when it asks if you want to place a new Maxis lot? Could you post a screenshot?

I have this exact issue too after I updated. I can load the game and my  save file no issue, but then trying to do anything other than play/pause achieves nothing. Can’t open the menu to save or access main menu, can’t open the needs panel, can’t open the gallery, it’s like no buttons work. I had to force quit each time. 

I have Mac and play with no mods, and had no issues before I updated my game yesterday. 

I do get the dark screen when I try to go to manage worlds. I'll upload what I can below.

I've also just noticed that if I start on an Adult Sim when loading in I can open the needs panel and save my game for a little while, but as soon as I click on a Teen Sim because of the character values glitch (found out there's loads of people suffering with this too from reddit) my game completely stops working again. Cas works fine, but I know some people also have issues loading cas.

So the photo is just after I've tried to go through save and manage worlds, and I have the black screen but can still see the panel. On this Teen Sim I can only see the character values and they're constantly changing. 

The video is what my game play is currently like after the update. As seen nothing works a part from loading up the Simology page where character values is the only thing seen and it changes rapidly. Then when clicking on save and manage worlds, I get the timer, but the screen then goes to black like the picture above.
