- @SimGuruNick Is this gonna get fixed soon
Whew! Any idea when we can expect a fix?
Okay so are you gonna actually fix it or is this gonna be another Sims 3 and the hundreds of dollars I've given y'all are going down the toilet?
I really want this to be fixed! Hopefully soon
- @Tinipandabear I tried emailing them directly since they seem to be unresponsive to the forum. Hopefully that does something
I've tweeted them. Radio silence.
- @crazybirdfluff This is what they said in response to my email:
“Thank you for contacting EA help. My name is Haider I would assist you with your The Sims 4 issue today.
It seems like an apparent bug in the game which is causing the non-accreditation of game performance. I know this can be upsetting for you. I really appreciate your feedback towards the game. I will make sure to forward the same to our concern department.
It is sad that we at customer experience, can only help with issues in the game itself, we cannot make changes or correct game bugs. You can however report this at the official forums, so that the moderators and Game experts can take a note of it and investigate this further.
Further, please post your query on the official forums at:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-a-complaint/
Believe me, the moderator team is however collecting data from the community and are examining solutions if they determine enough customers have the problem and the problem is technically addressable with a patch, or if a work around is possible.
We at EA customer service make every attempt to resolve each issue, but sometimes a resolution is simply not possible due to problems beyond our control. For your inconvenience, please accept my personal apology that this problem has negatively affected you.
Anticipating that Studio will look into the pertaining issue and try to put a fix to it in the game thus furnishing better gameplay experience for you.” @shonkieee Interesting, thanks for this. I followed that link, went to report bug and guess what? It told me to write it on EA Answers HQ. *headdesk*
- @crazybirdfluff I know right lmao that’s what we’ve been doing and it feels like nobody is listening
@shonkieee I'm really concerned that they're going to ignore us mac players like they did with the Sims 3. Such a waste of money if so, and I'll never, EVER buy an EA game ever again. Literally daylight robbery.
- @crazybirdfluff I’m so scared of that happening, I’ve spent way too much money on this game and I’m not about to buy a whole different computer so I can play it. They started the problem they can fix it. It’s BS
- @crazybirdfluff Gotta be honest though I didn’t have sims 3 on mac. What happened?
SimGuruNick responded to somebodies tweet saying 5 days ago he has been seeing the bug on his end, and saying the bug was on top of his list. hopefully its being fixed.

- @peonypixels That’s good to hear, I hope they keep their word
- @shonkieee Me too, he agreed it was frustrating. Hoping we get updates soon.
@shonkieee The whole game kept crashing every 30mins or so (if that), it'd just exit out. Didn't save, either... it was totally unplayable, and EA just ignored us. When they brought out the Sims 4, I didn't buy it for a few years. I was so angry. I read a while ago that apparently older macs (2011 and earlier, my macbook pro's a late 2011, upgraded it with an SSD and some RAM a couple of years ago) won't be able to run anymore packs by the end of this year because they're phasing out the use of some older graphics thing (I think). Dammit!!!!!
- @crazybirdfluff That’s so dumb!! What the hell?
- @crazybirdfluff
EA are upgrading Sims 4 to support Metal which Apple introduced in OSX 10.11 El Capitan and is compatible on most 2012 model and subsequent Macs.
Apple are phasing out support for OpenGL which Sims 4 currently uses, this is just natural progression and long overdue in favour of Metal which improves performance. It’s a pain yes but technology moves on, there aren’t many nine year old PCs which would still be capable of running a game like the Sims 4 but you will be able to run the legacy version when it is introduced. @EA_Mai has written a very helpful post on this which is stickied at the top of the Mac forum. - @Bluebellflora so do you think the bug won’t be fixed because of this?
- @shonkieee
I’ve no idea about when this bug, or any of the other Mac ones, will be fixed. I was explaining the Metal upgrade to crazybirdfluff 🙂 @Bluebellflora Nah I know it’s absolutely fair enough really. Just been looking at new MacBook Pro’s... I’d better get saving!!
- @Bluebellflora I gotcha
@Bluebellflora Very true, although being able to upgrade to an SSD and extra RAM definitely helped keep it going. Such a shame you can’t do that on the newer ones. Buuut my trusty 2011 MBP is still going strong, dents and all and it has seen many a great game of The Sims! Will be nice to (eventually) get a shiny new one though 😍
Still not fixed... might try calling again but it seems like they are in no rush to fix it. Sucks to have a good game ruined with no signs it will be fixed soon. Still not sure how it’s taking this long. Some of my friends are programmers and even they agree this is a long time for something like this to be fixed especially since they have a team of programmers.
