Re: [Info] The Sims 4 macOS Catalina Troubleshooting

Hello,

I installed Catalina update on my mac book pro and went to play Sims 4 after it updated and it will not open.  I keep getting an error message that it is already running with a long number and letters error message on my screen.  I went to EA answers HQ and have seen in the past two weeks where there were others who have also experienced this same issue.  I tried moving my sims 4 folder to my desktop and moving my tray, screenshots and save files as well.  Before i moved those files, i tried to start the game to the main menu and i got that error message so moving my files would not aid in the recovery of the game functioning on my Mac.

Is there any true fix for this mess?  I saw where catalina may not support 32 bit games.  If so, will SIMs 4 become 64 bit game anytime soon?  Please help!  This is truly an exhausting issue.

  • The sims 4 is always 64 bit on Macs. I've been trying to see if there may be a patch update coming out soon to fix this issue, but haven't found anything. Not saying you will but just to make sure, don't delete the sims 4 and try and reinstall it. I did that, along with reinstalling origin because that's what an EA tech support person said, and it ended up screwing me over because I now no longer have the files to move to the desktop in order to do the makeshift fix. I'm hoping they will announce a patch update soon, I miss my game lol.
