okay i reset my origin and re installed it again and it is still doing it. I have no clue what else to do and why all of a sudden my origin has stopped working

Ok, try disabling Origin in-game and see if that helps.
the problem is that origin will not open at all so i cant disable that
Urgh, sorry. No idea where my head was at yesterday, I'll read better today I promise :D
There are two quick things you could try:
- Boot into safe mode and then try to launch Origin - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262
- Create a new user account on your Mac and see if Origin launches in that account
You shouldn't need to do both but if one doesn't work try the other.
putting my mac in safe mode allowed my origin to update and now is running properly. Thanks for the help, now i just need to make sure my sims updates and ill be playing in no time!

Thank you so much for confirming what worked, it's so helpful when users take the time to come back with feedback - it helps all us Mac users 🙂 Do you have any kind of antivirus/3rd party firewall that may have been blocking Origin connecting for the update? No, i have nothing downloaded that could stop origin from properly working, I don't even have firevault on
