Hi @DancerForeverSim,
Welcome to the forums!
If your game works without custom content or mods, but not with, it means some of your mods are not compatible with the game. You will need to find the mods causing the problem. Please, read 'How to find problematic Mods' section here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/mods-and-the-sims-4-game-updates/
Good luck! 🙂

thank you so much!! i was stressing out and by dragging the folder to my desktop it fixed it, thank you!!!
- ive tried that it doesn't work
it keeps saying I haven't downloaded origin It does work but my cc isn't working☹️
@lilwinter16 What do you mean that you scanned the apps?
@in3z1 where did you download your game from?
@kahrehlla is your CC compatible with the latest version of the game?
- Anonymous8 years agoI’ll try doing that, thank you for saying that.
- Anonymous8 years agoPlease help. My Origin just wont launch my sims game😭 I even deleted all my mods/cc and reset Origin and I even pressed repair game. But when I try to open the sims game it just says “Unable to start: Origin is currently not running. Please make sure that Origin is running before attempting to play the sims 4” I’ve been dealing with this for months now and no tutorial or anything has worked and I’m also on a MacBook Pro

Please run the reset tool again, trash the Origin app from your Applications folder, re-download Origin, install it and see if it will load. - omfg dont do this because sims 4 will just create another sims 4 folder in documents and all your stuff/sims/houses/cc will be gone!
@HauntedBlanket, First of all, you drag your Sims 4 folder to your Desktop to preserve your Saved games, etc. This is exactly what you want to do. Your saved games will be safe on your Desktop as long as you DO NOT delete the Sims 4 on the Desktop. You want a new Sims 4 folder to generate so that if there are any corrupt files in your old Sims 4, the new one will correct it and will "reset" your game back to a vanilla game without your CC/Mods and saved games. Sometimes outdated mods/CC ARE the problem that is causing your game not to work and moving the Sims 4 allows you to troubleshoot to see where the issue is.
Once you start up the game allowing a new folder to generate, you should start a new game and play for about an hour or so to make sure there are no additional problems or that the problem you were reporting was no longer occurring. From there once you determine that your game works again, you should check the sites/blogs to make sure CC/Mods are up to date with the current patch/Content released by EA/Maxis. If the mods have been updated, you'll need to download the newest version and add it to your new Sims 4 folder.
For CC, there is no program for the Mac OS that identifies "bad" CC. What you'll need to do in that case is to manually cull the CC by adding a few pieces at a time, starting your game up and seeing if the game starts properly and if the CC shows up. If everything is ok, then the batch of CC you added is ok and you can add more in and test. If the game does not start properly, then one of the pieces you added in that batch is "bad" and will need to be removed. Again, you'll have to cull by adding only one piece at a time from your last batch, start the game up and if it works, then that piece was ok. Repeat until you have cleared your CC from old Sims 4 on the Desktop.
You can add your Saved games back in once you have cleared and cleaned out the Mods/CC and the game appears to work fine again.
I did that but it still didn't make my game play 😠
@THECOOLKID35355 Could you please provide more information? What's happening with your game: Does it load and crash, does it freeze on a black screen or the TS4 logo, etc.? What have you tried so far that didn't work?
One obvious thing to try is to disable Origin in-game. The option is under Application Settings.
If that doesn't help, please provide your mac's specs, as described in the following post. Please also list the packs you have installed.
Thank you I dragged my sims 4 to my desktop and now it seems like it’s working
This is super old now but just wanted to say youre a lifesaver, been trying all this crazy stuff to fix my game and after moving it to my desktop it booted up immediately!
I did lost my saves but I wouldn’t be surprised if the files were corrupted from my cc haha, thank you sooooo much for this omg
i wish you would've warned people to save their mods because now i lost hours worth of time spent downloading and installing cc from your advice. 🙂
