You MacBook Air supports Metal.
That means if you would update your MacOS to at least El Capitan your would not need the Legacy Edition of the Sims 4, you could use the normal edition that get new packs.
(You should not update to Sierra in the moment, there are some problems, and Catalina is not supporting 32bit App's anymore.)

I know I can technically update MacBook but if I do so I would lose some softwares I need for my job... Anyway I think I'll update soon since it's been causing me bit of trouble lately (not only for the sims) thank you for your recommendation !
