Everyone has different playing styles and user data. If you have every pack installed you will most likely need to play on low-medium settings.
If you have just the base game you may be able to play medium-high.
If you have a one sim household and never go to populated areas in-game, medium-high.
If you have a large household and go to populated areas, low.
If you have a ton of alpha CC, low.
If you have a ton of low-medium poly CC, low-medium.
The graphics are pretty poor in that Mac, you'll just have to see which settings work best for you and suit your play style.
