Re: Sims 4 Mac Won't Start

@lala82648

Updating to High Sierra? Hmm, that's odd. Can you please run the Origin reset tool and try again. If it still doesn't work please do the following:

  1. In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
  2. Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
  3. Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place. If there is another file in the folder, The Sims 4.par, leave it alone.
  4. Now open Origin, click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click on Download.

Hi, thanks for a response 🙂!

I tried running the Origin reset tool but my game still crashes the same.

After that didn't work, I deleted The Sims 4 and right clicked moved to trash. When I opened Origin it said the game needed an update. The update thing was glitchy so after a few unsuccessful runs, I clicked repair game. Sims 4 + any extra content finalized and Sims said it was ready to play.

Yet when I clicked it, it still crashed on startup😕 ☹️

Have you tried the steps in my previous post? It shouldn't have said update in Origin, it should have said Download! What did you delete?

    I did all your steps!! I hope.. I apologize, I'm not a very tech-savvy  🤭

I for sure ran the Origin reset tool. The sims still crashed after I did that, so I followed your second set of steps.

I right-clicked the Sims 4 icon and then clicked move to trash. (See in screenshot one) even though I've tried re-opening the Sims (it still crashing) it hasn't made a new one?

Now the Sims looks the second screenshot in my applications folder  🤨

I have no idea what I did incorrectly!

Once again, thank you so much for your help 🙂

Because you haven't followed the last step:

Now open Origin, click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click on Download.

Ok. When you say you right clicked on the game and moved it to the trash, was that definitely the right file you trashed? It should have looked like this:

It would NOT have looked like this:

And you should have found it by right slicking on the Sims 4 in your Applications folder, selecting Show Package Contents, then Contents then MacOS. You didn't right click on the Sims 4 in your Applications folder and select Move to Trash did you? Is there a Sims 4 app in your trash?

I have the exact same problem as Lala82648

is there anything I can do?

I updated my Macbook pro to High Sierra and since then my Sims 4 won't launch, it shows in my dock but it doesn't even open, before I updated my os, Sims opened with ease.
