Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.61.15.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Dine Out
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unsure if this is happening to other people & only occurs after saves and when I come back on the game.
What happens when the bug occurs? I either build or create a household and then, after either one or a few plays, I save it (and I have made sure that all of these are saved and have seen them pop up once or twice afterwards) and when I get back on the lot or household, they have completely disappeared from maps and in the load game section. I have lost several builds and a household so far. This has happened mostly in Newcrest and once in San Myshuno.
What do you expect to see? I expect my saved games to 1. save and 2. load (consistently).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I do not have additional information because my saved things do not appear.
@bluemist1 What platform are you on ?
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@bluemist1 So same questions apply. Is the save game disappearing ?Just the houses or all households you played ?
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@bluemist1 Please see my question above.

The builds I do are not saving. Houses I download from the gallery disappear too. The game itself saves, just not any houses I create, or download into the game save at all.

It isn't always that I'm clicking on a save and then things don't load, it's that the saves just stop appearing as an option. This has happened a few times with households, but my biggest issue is that I build houses (not attached to any sims, just in newcrest), and after two or three saves it disappears from the game altogether. I am now attaching these homes to sims and hope that gives them a better chance of not disappearing, but I've still lost several larger builds and don't know why or how to get them back.

How much internal storage do you have left on your Mac?

whenever I open the game, there is no option to resume playing my household. the only options I see are the scenarios and to start a new game. I can insert a picture. I saved over my household 3 times before exiting and it never saved my progress. I tried this a few times by starting a new household, saving and then exiting and it still would not save. the weird part is that my family is in my gallery, I just can't play as them. I have tried troubleshooting, repairing, updating, etc. please help!!

Greetings,
I am reaching out for assistance regarding Sims Saves on my MacBook Air. I recently updated my laptop and after the update, I logged into my Sims game, only to discover that all my saved data had been erased. I am unsure of what could have caused this issue, as I did not modify any settings during the update process.
Furthermore, I noticed that some of my other files were missing as well, which leads me to believe that my laptop may have been reverted to an old backup during the update. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could guide me through the process of recovering my lost data and ensuring that this issue does not happen again.
Thank you for your help.

Updating your Mac doesn't revert to a previous backup. Your problem is most likely iCloud related. See the opening post on page 1 for further info.

Literally someone please help me. I play the sims 4 on my MacBook and it would not load for the last 2 days. I restarted my MacBook, uninstalled origin and reinstalled it and updated the game. Now it has finally opened and my entire legacy family is GONE and it just says start new game. They are not in my library or gallery and I really don't know what else to do.

EA didn't delete your household but iCloud may have moved it. Read the opening post on page 1 for further information.

I recently downloaded the game on my new MacBook Air, and now I am facing a problem of the game resetting every time I launch it. In other words, even after I save my world, if I quit the game and open it up again, my world is no longer there and the game prompts me for tutorials as if I haven't played before. A message also pops up saying that my video card is unrecognized, but I'm not sure if that is part of the problem. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

@Indy1964
It's iCloud. Read the opening post on page 1 for help. The video card error is completely unrelated and can be ignored.

Every time I save as and exist the sims game, all of it is gone when I return. What do I need to do?

@parkerniag Does your computer run Windows or macOS?

Hi! Thank you 😊
It’s a Mac. I haven’t played Sims in years and I’m new again to everything again. I think the last time I played was 2016 lol. A lot has changed since then.
Talk soon.

Use Save instead of Save As. Save uses the same savefile that you're already using. Save As creates a new savefile. Use the Load button on the Main Menu to find those new saves.

So I recently got back into playing sims. I am used to playing with mods and cc. However, this time when I added new cc and mods to my previous file save( everything was updated) my game would not launch. I found Bluebellflora’s post about macbooks needing more space. So i went to icloud/icloud drive and turned off desktop and documents. As well as Disabling Optimise Mac Storage. Unfortunately now my macbook won’t let me move the documents folder from iCloud to its correct location. It has a pop up everytime saying documents need to be downloaded . At first my game would launch but, not with all of my files, mods, and cc. So I know I needed to move them from my icloud but, again it still wouldn’t let me copy it or just move it. Now my game won’t launch at all again. Sorry this is all over the place but if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I have no idea what to from here.

iCloud and Sims 4 simply don't play happily together because the game only looks on the local storage for the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder. It's a real problem because so many Mac users rely on the Documents & Desktop folder to be stored in the cloud.
How much internal storage is available on your Mac?
What happens when you try to launch your game? Is it bouncing in the Dock and then nothing? Any error messages?- 2 years ago
Thanks for responding so fast! Unfortunately I don’t have much storage left as Sims 4 takes up so much. Currently I have 5.67GB available. I am waiting on an external drive that I just ordered for cc and mods. The sims 4 icon will pop up on the bottom of the screen and then sometimes the cursor will spin. But then nothing happens.
UPDATE- I was able to transfer the files from icloud to local documents. However my game still won’t launch. It will just reopen origin sometimes as well.

Hi,
yesterday while trying to save storage on my Mac, I clicked a button in system preferences to transfer stuff to iCloud. While doing this, my computer desktop loaded from years ago and my sims 4 game was not working. The computer created a document called My documents on my Mac which I saw my sims 4 folder with all mods, trays, and saves.
I turned off the iCloud thing that messed everything up in the first place. And then I tried to copy and paste that new folder in my “original” sims 4 folder hoping to recover all my mods and sims. So far, my game is still lost and only plays as a new game with none of my sims or mods. Can anyone help? So frustrating.

You can't just copy/paste a folder within the Sim s 4 folder. The game will ONLY read data in specific folders in the the Sims 4 folder which must be in an Electronic Arts folder in the Documents folder. The file structure must look like this:

Thank you! Now I have to figure out how to get to the Macintosh hd. You’re right my game is in my iCloud which it’s not supposed to be. Hopefully once I copy and paste it in the correct place it will work!
if you know how to find the correct folder please share! I’m going to Google how now!
