It's most likely to be iCloud doing this and not the game. There is also quite a serious iCloud bug that has been identified in macOS Sonoma 14.4 that released on 7 March. If you're running 14.4 this may be affecting you https://www.macworld.com/article/2274686/macos-sonoma-14-4-icloud-drive-bug-saved-versions.html

Thank you. I’ll check and see if it has to do with my optimizing Mac storage, however, the sims 4 file is on my desktop, not on my iCloud. Additionally, only the iCloud files from my final saves in my laptop are there (April 2024).

The game will not load any user data from your Desktop, only those files stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If it doesn’t find an Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder directly in your Documents folder it will recreate a new one when you launch the game.- 1 year ago
Sorry I should’ve specified, I meant that I don’t have my documents in the iCloud. They’re in the normal documents folder you’re talking about. Documents - EA - Sims 4 etc.
I’m not sure if the iCloud issue would apply in my case since my files are directly saving to my documents on the laptop, and not being backed up on the cloud.
