Sorry I should’ve specified, I meant that I don’t have my documents in the iCloud. They’re in the normal documents folder you’re talking about. Documents - EA - Sims 4 etc.
I’m not sure if the iCloud issue would apply in my case since my files are directly saving to my documents on the laptop, and not being backed up on the cloud.
No, I save them locally as you can see in the screenshot. It's only saving up to the first 4 versions of my saves. It goes through a process of automatically deleting it and replacing it with the next oldest, etc. I can't recover it after... so frustrating in case something happens I can never go back to a save from weeks ago. It would only be a day or two max depending on last time i played. Is this related to the iCloud issue or is this something else?
Also, I have a 2024 Macbook Pro with M3 Max chip and 1 TB, so this isn't a storage issue nor do I have the macOS Sonoma 14.4.
Your screenshot doesn't show me it's local because I cannot see the file path at the bottom of the Finder window, it simply illustrates that there are multiple copies of files in a folder called saves. In your screenshot there are only three saves which the game will read and load:
Slot_00000011.save Slot_0000001d.save Slot_0000001c.save
All the rest are backups or copies of backups.
I don't think you're understanding the issue I have. Let me try to explain better. I've moved all my old saves to a different folder, aside from the 5 most recent, and below you can see those saves which are saved locally on my laptop, not on iCloud. Per the below sequence, the next time I save a game I should have Slot_00000011.save.ver5 appear (which was previously .ver4) and the sequence continue to increase as I go on saving games (version 6, 7, 8, etc..). However, if I go in and save my game today (14:32 EST), the game would overwrite the Slot_00000011.save as expected, BUT it would not add a .ver5 save. I have tried saving a bunch of times to test if I fixed the error, but I have not. How can I fix this issue? I think it has something to do with a new default setting in my M3 Pro Max. This was not an issue in my old Macbook Pro from 2015, hence, why those backups and copies from my previous screenshot that are previous saves from 2016-2023. I've been playing since November 2023 on my new laptop and all the saves since then are getting overwritten and only keeping the 5 most recent versions as seen below. I need help removing the override and letting the save sequence continue to version 5, 6, 7 etc..
I've tried to solve the issue myself and have read the forum, but nothing has been able to fix this saving error so far.
