Just to be clear, are you referring to the online Gallery or your in-game Library?
Actually it's both. All of the lots and sims I downloaded from The Gallery and placed in my game have disappeared (eg. Newcrest was entirely populated with Lots I'd got from The Gallery and it's now completely empty), and also all the Content I'd favourited and stored in my catalogue in The Gallery has vanished too.
I don't think it is both. It sounds like your issue is with the Tray folder in your Sims 4 folder. This stores all the files for the Lots/Rooms/Households in your in-game Library. The Gallery is only online.

I was syncing to cloud until recently (I turned it off as I was running out of space)... the timing would match with when I lost everything.
As far as I'm aware I moved everything to my mac book's local drives. Any idea how I can find/restore the Tray folder?
I've also been having issues with the online Gallery ages. Mostly of the stuff I favourite either never appears or doesn't stay in my Catalogue 🤷♀️
Go into Applications > Utilities and open the Terminal app. Copy this search command, paste it into Terminal at the prompt then hit Enter/Return:
find ~ -type f -name "*.householdbinary*" 2>/dev/nullThis command is searching your whole user account on your Mac for any files ending .householdbinary which is one of the files the game creates when you save Lots to your in-game Library. The prompt will reappear in Terminal once it has finished searching. You will see the full file path in the results. If you need help understanding the results copy and paste the output here and I can explain it to you 🙂
