Files with eight letters and/or numbers ending in .save, e.g. Slot_00000004.save are save files the game will load IF they are in:
Macintosh HD > Users > mrianbakhaya > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.
Files ending .verX where the X is 0-4, e.g. Slot_00000004.save.ver3 are backups and do not load unless the .verX is removed.
Going through them:
Users/mrianbakhaya/Library/Mobile Documents/.Trash/...⬆️ These were all in iCloud and have been trashed.
/Users/mrianbakhaya/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/...⬆️ These are in iCloud where the game cannot access them to load.
So, all of your saves are in iCloud, they need to be in the local Documents folder: Macintosh HD > Users > mrianbakhaya > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves
You need to follow the instructions in the opening post and turn OFF iCloud Drive syncing so your Documents folder is local again.
Hi sorry it took me a minute to get back to you. I have followed those steps 3 times now and every time it still creates a new save even when it is in my local Documents folder.
I think I have come to terms that I will just need to start a new save at this point. Do you have any tips for how to prevent this from happening again for the new save I'm going to make?

MrianB Could you post a screenshot of your saves in your saves folder in Finder with the file path clearly visible please?
I ended up trying something and it actually worked, I was surprised. I started the game up and deleted the tray, mods, screenshots, and saves folders from the new Electronic Arts file that it had created and replaced them with the original files from my original save. It loaded the game and it is now back to my original save, I was able to recover pretty much everything the only difference is that it is now technically a new save file and not the original one. Honestly all I care about is that my save is back and it seems to have everything in it including the content from the new packs I bought and seems to be running smoothly. It has also stopped creating new save files once I moved everything into the last new one it had created.
