Saved game appears in folder but not in game - Mac

I have not played The Sims 4 in a while and after having started a new game yesterday --AND SAVING--, I am unable to recover that same game today.  Older saved games are appearing at startup, but not this most recent one.  I even checked my "EA"/"The Sims 4"/"saves" folder and there are 3 save files from yesterday, so I know I did not mistakenly forget to save.  After reading through the forum, somebody suggested to drag out all saved game files and then delete the "The Sims 4" folder, start up the game so that it regenerates a new "The Sims 4" folder, drag my saved game files back into the new "saves" folder and restart the game, however, the same older games are still the only ones appearing at startup.  I even tried just dragging in the 3 files mentioned from yesterday, assuming they might be more easily recognizable to the program (does this sound crazy?).  PLEASE HELP, somebody!  Worked pretty hard at advancing my Sim's career and I wouldn't want to have to start all over again.  Thanks in advance for any advice you can impart!
