Hi,I suddenly started to experience issues in the game, walk animations were not working, the game would freeze when trying to load into the world with a family, and then suddenly the game stopped opening. @Porridge3712 Thanks 🙂 It's strange that your second account seems to mirror your usual account but the game won't launch. You could try reinstalling the OS which would fix any corrupted files or broken links, hopefully. Unless you wipe the machine, it will simply reinstall over the top of your current installation but you should do a backup anyway if you choose to do this.Lastly, I strongly recommend you uninstall CleanMyMac. Apps that claim to clean up your system can sometimes erroneously remove files they shouldn't, sometimes even destabilising the operating system in the process. 3rd party 'clean up' apps really aren't needed and seem to aim towards ex-Windows users who rely on them so heavily. macOS is a very efficient OS.

Sims 4 bouncing on dock and then closing

Hi,

Are you attempting to play the normal version of the game or the Legacy Edition? Normal version.

You could try reinstalling the OS which would fix any corrupted files or broken links, hopefully. Unless you wipe the machine, it will simply reinstall over the top of your current installation but you should do a backup anyway if you choose to do this.

Apps that claim to clean up your system can sometimes erroneously remove files they shouldn't, sometimes even destabilising the operating system in the process. 3rd party 'clean up' apps really aren't needed and seem to aim towards ex-Windows users who rely on them so heavily. macOS is a very efficient OS.

If the new user account successfully runs the game I would suspect it’s something running in your usual account. Maybe some type of scanning software like antivirus? Close all apps including ones that run in the background then try to launch the game.

Just to be clear, a completely clean Sims 4 folder didn’t work? And you didn’t move any files into the new folder?

Thank you for your reply! I tried turning off my antivirus in the activity monitor and running the game and it still did not work, I have a lot of background processes in the activity monitor so I am not sure which one to turn off, is there one specifically I should quit? I also made sure to check that I do not have two Origins or two Sims games running in the background, and I do not.
Yes, I tried completely deleting the mods, saves, and tray folders, and when that didn't work I tried completely moving the Sims 4 folder, then completely deleting the sims 4 folder, and still nothing.

And you didn’t add anything back into the newly created Sims 4 folder such as saves or CC? You played as if the game was new?

There will be lots of processes running in Activity Monitor. If you like, close everything like you did before, launch the game, open Activity Monitor and sort by CPU then take a screenshot and post it here. Also do the same but sort by memory. This will help see if there is anything taking up crazy amounts of power or anything erroneous.

Here is what my processes look like at the time when I press play and the icon bounces on the dock, the new process that appears is WindowServer, but there is no process even called The Sims 4 or anything. Also, the CleanMyMac process and my antivirus (that I had turned off) run on the second user account as well where the game opens and runs fine, so I am not sure if that is the problem.

I made different attempts with the new Sims 4 folder, the first time I reinstalled and had a new folder I did not add anything to it, with no cc or saves, it still would not run, the second time I reinstalled and had a new folder I tried adding back all of my saves and cc, but still nothing.
I am not sure if it is a problem with my saves or cc, because I added them to my sims folder on the second user account, and everything runs fine with no problems.

@Bluebellflora I think at this point I will reinstall the OS, for some reason the other user runs faster anyway so something might be corrupt in my files. I will make sure to back up everything first! Also thank you for informing me about CleanMyMac, I won't be using it anymore. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi everyone. I am also having problems with sims 4 crashing.
I have already tried enabling vertical sync and it didn't change anything.
When I am in CAS, the game freezes and after a minute or two, crashes. It stops the game without me doing anything other than trying to click on things, shuts down the computer, then the computer restarts. I have been able to create a sim using just the story tool without adjusting or changing anything about the sim. When I am in live mode and build/buy mode everything works fine. As soon as I change something in CAS, it freezes and crashes. Sometimes after only one change, for example changing the hairdo once, sometimes after several changes. It also happens when I am in “partial” CAS, where the player is only able to change hair and clothes, which is accessed through the mirror or dresser in Live mode. These are my current system specifications:
Mac M1; Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81)
Memory: 8GB
I have 11 expansion packs, stuff packs and game packs in total. I have mods, but the problem was exactly the same after I removed all my mods.
The problem seems to have been happening only after I have updated my operating system to Sonoma. I am now considering downgrading my OS. I have already tried the following:
- enabling vertical sync in game options
- a clean reinstall of origin as described here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-4-Laptop-freezing-in-CAS-and-gameplay/m-p/9812425
Except I used Cleanmymac X, for mac, instead of Revo uninstaller for windows.
- And moved my entire sims 4 file to another location after uninstalling origin. Reinstalled origin and started up sims 4 again from an entirely newly spawned save file, still the same problem.
- I have disabled “origin in game” in the Origin app
- I have “repaired” the game in Origin (twice), but to no avail
Nothing of what I did helped or changed anything. If you know something I could try, please let me know. Thanks!

You're the third person in a the last couple of weeks or so who is stating they are having game freezing and crashing issues and who uses CleanmyMac. Get rid of it! It's possible it may have trashed files it shouldn't have which have caused your game/Origin, possibly OS, to become unstable. There is absolutely no need for these "clean up" apps to be used on Macs. Did you used to use Windows?

Could you post a screenshot of your in-game options.
