Sims 4 causing brand new MacBook Air to run very hot?

I downloaded and installed the Sims 4 on my brand new MacBook Air last night, the game runs fine but the fan runs at full blast and the laptop gets super hot so much that I am not comfortable playing the game. I don't have anything else running on the machine and almost nothing at all installed on it yet, I have only had it a few weeks. I checked the system requirements and it looks like it meets the recommended level of requirements and well above the minimum. I didn't purchase the laptop for the purpose of games specifically but thought this should be able to run to help pass time while quarantined. Is this expected behavior for this game on this hardware or is there anything that I can do to improve performance?

OS Catalina 10.15.3

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020)

Processor 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4

Graphics Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB

Makes sure your Mac is elevated so air can circulate underneath and play on low settings. MacBook Airs are great but not for gaming. The fans are running high because your Mac is using every ounce of power to try and run the game.
