Sims 4 crashes on startup (Mojave)

Sorry if this has been addressed but I keep having this issue and I haven't seen an answer that addresses my problem specifically.

The game often crashes immediately after passing the first loading screen to the spinning plumbob. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, tried starting in offline mode, gotten rid of my mods folder, etc. The thing that fixes it 100% of the time is deleting everything in my folder except my mods, tray, screenshots, and saves, so I don't think it's being caused by a mod. It's fixable, but having to do this almost every other time I open the game is a huge pain.

I run Mojave 10.14.6. Error message I get on crash copied below:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x000000018984ccf0
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Termination Signal: Segmentation fault: 11
Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 0xb
Terminating Process: exc handler [2460]

  • It won't let me attach my LastCrash file so here is the text:

Thanks 🙂 Your game still has Mods in it. Can you please move the whole Sims 4 folder to the desktop and then launch the game so it has none of your content in it. Does it still work?
  • Removing the Mods folder doesn't seem to make a difference. Like I said in the first post, I can fix the problem without removing the Mods folder. If I delete everything but that, as well as the tray, saves, and screenshots folders, and reopen, the game always loads fine.

  • This is happening to me! Since yesterday I was playing fine, then it loads the green bar spins then stops and it crashes! I removed my mods & reinstalled And it was still happening.. repaired game still... then I deleted the whole sims 4 folder and it worked but then if I close the game it does it again!

  • Yeah same! mine starts loading then just stops and crashes. I updated my computer and everything.
