sims 4 freezing on macbook

I've got a new MacBook Air 2020 for Christmas and bought the sims 4 for it. I'm able to play for 5-10 minutes before the whole game freezes and I have to manually restart my laptop. I've tried a lot of things already; running origin in offline mode, turning off in game audio, reducing the graphics quality by a bunch, playing not in fullscreen mode, and I've had no luck. I don't have any mods or expansions I just bought the base game from CDkeys. Any help would be much appreciated aha 🙂
