sims 4 game has saving screen up, but won't finish saving

this has happened a couple times now. i create a household, play with them for a while, and i have no gameplay issues. when i'm ready to save, the saving icon comes up but the game will not save, the saving screen just stays up - last night i tried to save and it was taking forever so i went to bed and when i woke up this morning it still said it was saving - about 10 hours later! i had to end up force quitting and losing all my progress. i've checked around for people with similar problems and havent been able to find this same issue. i am playing on a bit of an older mac, so i guess a possibility is that my computer just can't really handle the game anymore, but i am really hoping that is not the case so if there is a fix for this i'd love to know!

    @Bluebellflorasorry for the late response! i just took cc and mods out of my sims 4 mods folder. here is the mac info:
    Operating System: OS X El Capitan
    Mac model: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53 GHz, Mid 2009)
    Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
    i didn't think it was THAT old, so that totally might be the problem, but i really appreciate you taking a look!

    edit: hey, just an update! i removed my cc and repaired the game in origin and i am now able to save households to my library and save from manage worlds, but once i got into gameplay i am unable to save still. also, i cannot force quit to stop the game, i have to force shut down my computer :/

    @Bluebellflora so last night i uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and i was able to save then, so i thought i had fixed it... but then today i played again and i am not able to save still (in live and build mode). i have cats & dogs, city living, get famous, get to work, get together, island living, seasons, outdoor retreat, vampires, and vintage glamour. I just realized some of the packs say they are still finalizing from last night too :/

    Could you set up a new user account on your Mac and see if you can play and save successfully in that account?

    @Bluebellflora just did this and it seems to work! I'm gonna try again tomorrow just in case, because the last thing i tried only worked once- thanks for all your help!
