Is the game installed on the external drive? Have you created the symlink to store the Sims 4 or Electronic Arts folder on the external drive? - simppley_S4 years agoNot applicable@Bluebellflora Yes i play on an external drive and use a symlink i followed you instructions to so.
Ok, thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure what "playing on an external drive meant".
Did the symlink work? Does the Sims 4 or Electronic Arts folder, whichever one you created the symlink for, have the little arrow in the corner in your local Documents folder? Can you confirm whether you created the symlink for the Sims 4 folder or the Electronic Arts folder?
- simppley_S4 years agoNot applicable@Bluebellflora Yes the symlink worked, i gave been using it for about a year with no issues. I created the symlink for my electronic arts folder and yes it does have a little black arrow on it.
Thanks, the more info you provide the better 🙂
When you say it's not saving what is happening? Are you getting an error message? Is it crashing? Is it saving but you can't see the saves in the Sims 4 > saves folder? Are you not getting the option to Load Game at the main menu?
- simppley_S4 years agoNot applicable@Bluebellflora I really appreciate you trying to help. I get an error message with the number 401:6b649027:4a6c5f44

Did you try a new Sims 4 folder? As you've created the symlink you need to rename your existing one to force the game to regenerate a new on on the external. You may have a corrupted save using the issue. - simppley_S4 years agoNot applicable@Bluebellflora there was a new sims 4 folder created on my external drive. I have been using the symlink for a year and this is my first time having trouble. Do you think I should undo the symlink and redo it?

The issue is not the symlink, it is with your user data, possibly a corrupted save. What happened when you tried to save after having created the new Sims 4 folder? Did you still get the same error message?
