Sims 4 gameplay wont load
I recently bought a new 2022 macbook air, and having had sims work perfectly on my previous laptop, downloaded and started playing. No matter what i try my game never loads once i enter gameplay mode...

As far as I'm aware I'm not but i can have deeper look.
I tried the new account and it stopped at the same point again. It was with the same icloud account but I shouldn't think that had anything to do with it.

It may have had everything to do with it as iCloud interferes with the Documents folder if enabled. Trash that user account and set up another one but don't sign into iCloud during the setup process. You may have the same end result but we can discount iCloud as an issue.

Just redid it and the same thing happened. The lots around weren't blacked out, but it still froze the screen before anything could move. Thanks. Did you still get the popup window you can't see any info in? You say you bought a new MacBook Air 2022 model. Was this in fact a refurbished machine? Asking because if so, maybe it's faulty which would explain the graphics issues. Apple don't sell old stock and have released two updated models since 2022, a 2023 M2 model and a 2024 M3 model. Where did you purchase it from?

I purchased it from the apple store in my city, as far as I'm aware at the time of purchase (may 2024) it was the newest model in stock.

model - macbook air m2 2022

The M3 series are the latest models and were released in March this year. Your model was released two years ago in July 2022. It’s still a great computer and good that it was brand new.
In the new user account you set up, do you have any background apps running such as Spotify, antivirus etc?
Can you try opening EA App then disabling WiFi on your Mac so you’re offline, then launch the game? spotify is downloaded on the new user but it isnt open when i try to play.
i tried turning off the wifi and it let me zoom the camera and pause the game but it froze basically immediately after.

The point of a new user account is to test in a completely clean environment that nothing is installed in apart from the basic macOS and the game. Don't install any other apps, don't log into any existing apps installed in the Macintosh HD > Applications folder.
