Sims 4 Mac game display

I thought I would play this game, after being away for a while.  The game looks like it will play but when it loads to the page where you would select a new game or play an existing one, the screen size is shrunk to a quarter of its correct size, to the bottom left corner and none of the buttons are accessible.  I have read all the help I can find on this and nothing seems to work.  How do you resize the screen to full mode when you can't even access the game?  Note that while the game is loading it displays full screen, and it is only when it gets to the log on screen that the screen is diminished.  Thanks for any help.
