Sims 4 Mac, Slow and Laggy Performance

The Sims 4 on my iMac has been slow and laggy lately. It's been like this for the past few months I have played. It used to be working fine but now it's a bit tedious to even enjoy it.

I have previously posted before about it but it's not reaching to anyone else. I haven't used any Mods or CC. I have expansions downloaded.

My Specs:

macOS Catalina Version 10.15.1

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)

Processor: 1.6 GHz Dual Core Intel Core i5

Memory: 8GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

From a unknown sim.

    Your Mac has a pretty weak CPU and low spec graphics chip.

    Try a completely clean game by moving your Sims 4 folder to the desktop, lower in-game graphics settings, enable laptop mode and turn off edge smoothing.

    It makes sense, @Bluebellflora.

    I did this before hand, putting the folder to my desktop and my saving was gone. Is this meant to happen? Then once I returned to my documents, they created a new Sims 4 folder in the Electronic Arts folder. It's kinda unfortunate this is happening. I even put the electronic arts folder on the desktop and they made a new one?

    Yes, that’s exactly what is meant to happen as it is starting a new clean game to see how that performs versus your current game.

    @Bluebellflora

    is there any way to get my savings back if I do this process? and how do I do this if my documents keeps creating new folders for electronic arts? ☹️

    @Bluebellflora everything that I have is in the folder but they still create a new folder and would start completely new even if my saves are in the exisiting folder on my desktop. ☹️ maybe I need to get my saves folder and put it on the new one and replace the new folders to the old ones?
