sims 4 not opening on mac

my sims 4 game recently updated and i haven't been able to open the game. when i click play through origin, the sims game would bounce in my dock, have the spinning rainbow wheel, and then close. i've tried almost every solution:
- clearing origin cache

- dragging out the mods folder

- dragging the whole sims 4 folder out

- going offline

- repairing the game

- enabling/disabling origin in game

- uninstalling and reinstalling

and i did eventually get it to work by signing out and back into origin but i quitted the game to install new cc and faced the same issue again and have tried all previous solutions and none of them worked. i'm playing on a base model macbook pro m1 2020 on macOS monterey ver 12.3

is there any way to fix this?

    thank u for the reply!
i'm not able to install the newest ver of monterey since i'm only able to download ventura and i'm not sure where to find an installation for it. as for clearing cache, i simply went to my finder and went to the ~/Library/Caches folder and deleted what was labeled as origin. i was able to get my sims to work on a separate user/acc on my mac with the exact same contents but it unfortunately still won't work on my usual acc

You can update Monterey. Instead of clicking on the Ventura upgrade which Apple try and force on us, there should be a more options button where you can update Monterey.

Clearing the cache on Origin that way is useless, the Origin reset tool for Mac is much better as it clears out all the other files necessary for cleaning up Origin. Cache files are only a small number of the files - https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

That's good you can play in another account. It indicates an issue with your normal account which is most probably permission related. When you launched the game in the new account you will have been prompted for permission for the game to access your Documents folder. In the old account, check in System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Files & Folders and make sure the game has access to the Documents folder.

omg ty i didn't even realize that was an option! but i did reset origin and origin does have access to my files but it still seems to not work? but i've noticed that now my other user doesn't seem to work and my original is working now, i'm honestly fine with this as long as it works but it's a hassle transferring new saves and mods 😭 thank you for the help though! if you do happen to know why it does this switching thing then it'd be great to know! if not, thank you for the help 🙂

It's not checking that Origin has access to the Documents folder, you should be checking the game has access otherwise it cannot read and write data to the Sims 4 folder. Check all the permissions that I explained in my previous post, it should help with the issue 🙂
