Sims 4 stuck in repair loop after update on Mac
I’m experiencing a persistent issue with The Sims 4 on Mac. This morning when I opened my game, I got an error: "the game failed to load. Error Code: 123:b378c837:938c06ee. It is recommended that you relaunch the game." I relaunched the game and same error.
I (potentially stupidly) attempted a repair of the game via EA App, the application entered a repair loop where each expansion fails to install.
I have tried the following steps:
- Cleared cache manually via Library > Application Support and Caches
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App (twice)
- Deleted all local game data including The Sims 4, EA Desktop, and Origin folders
- Restarted the system and attempted a fresh install of the base game
- Confirmed I am using the correct EA account (with purchased DLCs visible)
Despite all of this, the EA App remains stuck in an endless repair/install loop, and I can no longer download or access the base game or any expansions. The app also does not properly redetect deleted files or allow a clean reinstallation. This issue is preventing me from accessing a game and DLCs I’ve paid for. How do I get a server-side reset?
Is there anything I can do? I'm not able to contact anyone at EA.
I’m using MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2
Thank you for your help. I realised that once I uninstalled and reinstalled my game, it had created new paths. I solved it by:
- going to Manage > View properties. I checked the path, and pressed OPEN FOLDER, which led me to a "false" Applications folder (I don't know how).
- I moved the Sims 4 app and the Packs folder that I found there to the new EA Games folder that had spawned in my "true" Applications. After I did that I was able to launch the game, which spawned an Electronic Arts folder in Documents.
- I moved my backups to Electronic Arts, replacing the existing The Sims folder with my old one.
- I shut everything and relaunched; my game finally worked.
Going to leave this here in case anyone else encounters this error!
