sims 4 won't open, installed on external hard drive

I have downloaded sims 4 to my external hard drive (I use Mac book pro 2020 to play) but it won't open, it only pops up in the bar but then closes after a few seconds. It has worked before but then s...

        Thanks. This sometimes helps others although wasn't necessary for me:

        Click on the mounted drive and press CMD and i to bring up the info window. At the bottom is the Sharing & Permissions window. Make sure your user account has Read & Write access. Some people are reporting that changing the Everyone setting to Read & Write is also necessary for Origin to successfully access the external drive.
