Sims 4 Won't Play (Mac)

First of all, I am not a computer person AT ALL. I apologize if the following is incorrect in some way. I have had the Sims for a month and a half I suppose, never had a single problem other then today. I have downloaded CC (Custom Content) but no Mods. This Morning, before I had even started up the game let alone Origin. I downloaded some more Custom Content. Once I had finished I tried to start up Origin by going into my finder and obviously clicking on it. It showed up in my "hot-bar" (or whatever it's called, like I said I know very little about computers) and then disappeared like I had never even tried opening it. I looked online for quite a while and decided to just uninstall and reinstall it. After it had been reinstalled it opened fine, but my progress had been lost, (as in, my sims game said it had never been played, and I had played for 0 hours) Origin asked for me to update the Sims game for me to be able to play it, so I did. I attempted to open the Sims 4 game after the update, it opened fine, then went to the "Plumbob screen" stopped moving, then "crashed", it brought me back to the Origin app and I almost immediately tried to open it again. It did the same thing but then instead of bringing me to the Origin app it closed out of Origin and asked me to report to Apple. (Which I'm guessing isn't going to help at all) I'd like to say that I restarted my computer several times, I repaired the Sims 4 game once, quit and re-opened Origin more then five times. I also have my graphics "very high" since I have custom content, I read online that having high graphics was causing others problems, and when they changed the graphics the game was fine. However I don't know how to change the graphics without being in the game, and since I can't get into the game at all.. I have no idea how I would be able to perform that. I would also like to inform you that I played this game yesterday for quite a long time and I didn't have a single problem. đŸ˜ž

     Please Help! Thanks.

Thanks, it's showing up fine for me in the Tops section of CAS. Do you have iCloud Drive setup? If so that may be the problem. The game will only read your user data from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. iCloud Drive moves this folder to the cloud so every time you load the game it will recreate a new folder.

    1. "hot bar" is actually called the Dock
    2. Don't pay any attention to hours played in Origin, it doesn't work and has no bearing on the game performance. Ignore it
    3. Please reset Origin - https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
    4. Go into Documents > Electronic Arts and move the Sims 4 folder to your desktop then launch your game - does it work?
    5. If you have a MacBook/MacBook Air/13" MacBook Pro/basic iMac then it will not be capable of playing with graphics settings on high.
    6. If your game suddenly stops working after installing CC/Mods then it's pretty definite that the CC/Mods are causing the game to not load. Pull your Mods folder to your desktop and then launch the game again.

Thank you! I moved my entire Electronic Arts file onto my desktop and my game has started up again. However, this isn't major; but I have "Allow CC" on in my settings, and I have CC downloaded but now it won't show up in game. I tried a few things but they didn't seem to help. Like I said this doesn't need to be fixed for I'm just happy my game is playable, but I wouldn't mind having my CC back in game. Thank you again!

Your CC is in the folder you moved. By moving out that folder it makes the game recreate a new, vanilla game without any of your old saves/settings/CC etc. You can gradually move your CC back into the newly created Mods folder in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, testing to see if the game loads after adding the CC. When your game stops working then you know you have found the problematic CC.

Okay, well. I added one item of custom content (literally just the first thing I saw) and I started up The Sims again, it didn't show in-game. I looked back on the Mods file and it was there, but it still didn't show in game. I think i've said before that I do have custom content allowed on my game it just won't show. Really Confused, sorry about this misconception ☚ī¸

You added the item into the Mods folder in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and it still didn't show? Please can you give me a link to the CC so I can test it in my game?

Also, you are extracting the .package files and adding those to the Mods folder?

I tried again, and this time it worked! I'm not sure why it worked this time and not other times but it did. (??)

Thank you so much for your help, you're amazing! 🙂
