I bought the game june 2016 and I've never been able to open it, since origin keeps telling me that "the sims 4 is already running" with the errorcode:
[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]
I've already tried reinstalling origin and resetting it. I've checked my task manager and it is not running. I've gotten a new macbook (the touchbar one) and it still tells me that the sims 4 is already running. Help me, please

I'm seeing that this question has been asked since 2013 and even up to 2016. The only answers posted are for windows 10 - well I'm not using windows I'm using a Mac so the quick fix for everyone else hasn't worked for me.
I've erased my mod folder and there is no cache to clean. I just wanted to play a game I've been playing since I was a child.

The Sims 4 was released for Mac in February 2015 so any threads before then relate to Sims 3. That issue is due to unsupported graphics cards as Sims 3 is not compatible on post-2013 Macs without editing some game files.
Are you having issues with Sims 3 or Sims 4? Have you tried quitting the game process in Activity Monitor?
- 9 years agoIt's definitely the sims 4 - I guess that error message has been around for a while then.
It wasn't the graphics or anything like that. Something wrong with the files...
EA left me to hang and hung up on my multiple times until I got right pissed and fixed it by my damn self.
If anyone wants to know how I did it, I'll let em know. But I don't wanna help this whack site that couldn't help me...
If you do need help with this exact thing though lemme know!

I need a lot of things but I find that shouting (typing in all caps) and demanding doesn't always get me what I want.
What 'thing' on a PC are you referring to?
What is the exact problem you are having?

Are you playing in Windows on your Mac? Or in macOS? Please can you provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162
Can you please run the Origin reset tool. If it still doesn't work try this:
- In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
- Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
- Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place. If there is another file in the folder, The Sims 4.par, leave it alone.
- Now open Origin, click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click on Download.

Playing in macOS.
I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) which i believe meets the requirements for the game. I have already reset origin once before, which did not help, and I cannot find the sims 4 under applications. I just reinstalled the Sims 4 and still cannot find it under applications.

This is exactly my problem as well. Very frustrating.

pls help I did this and can't find how to re download from origin ;(((((((

Go into your Origin games library, your game will be there. Makes sure you have no filters selected and that you are logged in using the same account you purchased the game through.

So, I know I'm super late.... but I've been having this same problem for a week now.
I just found a way to fix it and not lose any of your data! So for future reference....
1) go to your finder and your document. There should be a folder labeled Electronic Arts.
2) go in that folder and find your folder labeled Sims 4. Inside this folder you'll find your mods, downloads, cache, and another folder labeled saves.
3) drag the entire electronic arts folder to your trash.
4) Now in your finder that folder should have been replaced with another, go in to where you find the Sims 4 folder in your finder
5) Now open your trash and go into where you find the saves folder again
6) Lastly, drag your saves folder from the trash to replace the one in your new Sims 4 folder.
You have now fixed the problem AND kept all your data.

Omg this worked!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+PLEASE don't drag your Electronic Arts folders to the trash! If you have other EA games installed the data will be in that folder too. You can simply drag it to the desktop. The trash is for just that, trash.

This worked!! I just moved the electronics folder to my desktop instead of trash and that worked better! Thank you!

Are you running Catalina? You need to allow the game to access your Documents folder. You can do this in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy- 6 years ago
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have been searching for an answer for hours and this is the ONLY answer that worked!!!!! Bless you, you are a godsend

To solve "the sims 4 is already running" with the error code [ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51] on mac:
1 - Go to system preferences.
2 - Go to security and privacy.
3 - Click files and folders.
4 - Make sure the documents folder box is ticked under the sims.
This should work if you've accidentally denied access to something when loading the game like I did.
Hope this helps some people!

I have a MacBook Air running macOS Sierra 10.12.6
Installed a new Sims4 yesterday.
I can't get past "The Sims4 is already running:
ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51
I've done mac updates, reinstalled both the game and origin. I'd appreciate any suggestions. ๐ Thanks

Please move your Sims 4 folder that contains your saves and other user data to the desktop and then see if you can launch the game.- 6 years ago
Thanks for your help, but I had already tried that from previous posts.
Good news though. After a full day of various work-arounds I tried making a new user account and opening it from there. Worked first time! A crazy-easy solution. I'm not sure why it works, but it does. Yeah!!!
Thanks again.

If anybody is still having problems with this, the problem is your privacy settings not allowing access to Sims 4. Go to your security and privacy settings (firewall) and allow Sims 4 to gain access with all documents and files of your pc or mac.
i started having this problem when I accidentally hit โdont allowโ on a prompt to open Sims 4.

Iโm unable to start the game, I get a message that The Sims 4 is already running after I have updated to macOS Catalina - what can I do?
Try deleting/moving the UserData.lock file located in /Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4
and it works. no need to re-install- 2 years ago

ALREADY RUNNING SIMS 4 SOLVED
I've had the sims since 2017 and I recently started playing more often now. Ever since I started playing in 2019 I haven't been running the sims through Origin, and I've gotten the ''already running'' on my Mac. Launching The Sims 4 app itself by clicking it is im pretty sure what caused it to make the already running show up (from my experience). What you need to do is click Origin and play the sims through there I've been doing that and noticing that I don't get the error code anymore. Make sure your Origin is always up to date as well. I hope this helps!!!

I know there are a couple of other posts already on here about this exact same problem but they are either quite old, they don't have answers, or the answers that I've tried don't work or they require me loosing all my previously saved games which I am trying to avoid. I know how to get the game itself working again but I want to find a solution that allows me to start where I left off.
I played the game just yesterday with no problems and I haven't updated my computer recently.
Here are my specs:
- MacOS Catalina 10.15.7
- Macbook Pro (16in, 2019)
- 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
- 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
- AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
- Are you attempting to play the normal version of the game or the Legacy Edition? - I don't know. Upon opening the Electronic Arts folder in my Documents it does show both versions; however, I launch the game from Origins so I don't know what it picks
- Are you running any antivirus? - No
- Have you tried to repair the game in Origin? - Yes, didn't work
- Do you use CC/Mods? - I don't know what these are...
I am a MEGA AMATEUR when it comes to computer stuff (like I don't know what RAM is or how to clear a cache) and I'm really looking for a simple/straight forward answer if anyone can. I have almost 300 hrs into my game and will be really sad if I lose all my work. Thanks!

For this issue you need to move the Sims 4 folder to the desktop from Documents > Electronic Arts then attempt to launch the game so a new one is created.
If it launches ok then copy your saves from the Sims 4 folder you moved to the desktop, into the new Sims 4 > saves folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. Copy the actual save files, don't move over the saves folder.
If you have multiple saves you should copy them individually and test the game loads after adding each one. No need to copy over the save files ending in .ver0, .ver1 etc. as these are backups. Just copy the ones ending .save.- 5 years ago@Bluebellflora I experience the same thing. This one is a little bit confusing.
You're saying, "If it launches ok then copy your saves from the Sims 4 folder you moved to the desktop, into the new Sims 4 > saves folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. Copy the actual save files, don't move over the saves folder."
May I confirm that you're saying that once we moved the folder to desktop (along with the current save files), launch the game, then the game generating a new save file on the Documents > EA > The Sims 4. Then, later on, moved the current save files to replace the new saved file. Am I right? I don't want to lose my save files.

I have been unable to play the sims 4 for quite a long time because when I try to open it through origin on my laptop, a pop up appears telling me that the game is already open. I can tell it is not open and refuses to open since it seems to think I'm already playing. I deleted the sims 4 and origin from my laptop, re-downloaded and the problem continues. I contacted tech support with no solution available. I've seen other people with similar experiences but no one else I've seen mentioned the game "already running" issue.
- Bluebellflora5 years agoHero+@CarterDepp
It's actually quite a frequent recurring issue and seems to happen more often after a game update, no idea why. Can you move the Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to the desktop then see if the game will launch. It will be like new again because all of your saves and other user data is in the folder you moved. If that doesn't fix it try the suggestion in the solution on page 1 and try playing in a new user account on your Mac.- 5 years ago@Bluebellflora Ah! Thank you so much that fixed it! Now i'll be able to play with Paranormal Stuff.
