The Sims 4 was released for Mac in February 2015 so any threads before then relate to Sims 3. That issue is due to unsupported graphics cards as Sims 3 is not compatible on post-2013 Macs without editing some game files.
Are you having issues with Sims 3 or Sims 4? Have you tried quitting the game process in Activity Monitor?
It wasn't the graphics or anything like that. Something wrong with the files...
EA left me to hang and hung up on my multiple times until I got right pissed and fixed it by my damn self.
If anyone wants to know how I did it, I'll let em know. But I don't wanna help this whack site that couldn't help me...
If you do need help with this exact thing though lemme know!

Can you open Activity Monitor, select the Sims 4 and then click on the grey X in the top left corner (not the red X) to quit the process?

Hi you guys. Your replies all went past me and into my junk folder. I'm sorry but I'm here to spill the beans!!
So something was corrupted. I was lazy and didn't find out what it was specifically but here's what I did and the problem went away.
If you're on a Mac and you get this error this is what to do:
Close the game (and anything else that's open // save whatever was open)
Log out of your Mac profile (press the Apple in the top left corner and go down to log out)
Create a new profile (Don't worry you won't need to keep it, it's just for the brand spanking new settings and files)
Go into your new Mac profile
In your files section locate the folder (Electronic Arts) containing the sims 4 game.
Copy that folder and all of its contents onto a USB
Log out of your newly created Mac profile
Log onto the one you usually use (the one you use to play the sims 4)
Locate your Electronic Arts folder and delete it***
((***If you have specific mods you want go into your Mods folder and place the ones you want onto your USB))
Now take the mint (untouched) Electronic Arts folder and copy and paste it where the old one was.
You should now be able to play the game :D
((***for the mods make sure the game works first and then log out and add your mods to the new mod folder))
Happy Simming you guys,
Maxis I'm still giving you guys the finger for hanging up on me, I haven't forgotten <.<

- Have you moved your Sims 4 folder to the Desktop and tried launching a new clean game?
- Have you repaired the game in Origin?
- Have you set up a new user account on your Mac and tried to play in that?

I'm replying to your topic because i'm experiencing the very same problem you did.
the sims 4 won't launch and it displays the error message "game is already launched" and same error code (see attached file)
Can you please tell me what you did to fix it?
I tried calling EA but they just told me to wait, that they can't do anything to help me.
thank you for reading,
best regards
Steven

Have you tried the suggestions in my post above?
- Tremayne42607 years agoHero
The entire Sims 4 must be moved to your Desktop, not just the Mods folder found within. I have seen several posts lately that say "Well, I moved my Mods folder" thinking that will disable the Mods. No, it doesn't work that way. The entire Sims 4 folder (found Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4) must be moved. At this time DO NOT DELETE IT! This is where your saved games, saved sims, CC, mods, and screenshots are stored.
Moving this folder allows for the game to create a new folder as something in the old one may have become corrupted and needs to be cleaned out.

What problem are you having? The solution on page 2 has two fixes in it for the issue reported in this thread. If you have a different problem on your Mac please create a new post.
