I found it and did as you instructed (deleting the sims 4 under the macOS folder), yet now it just created something called; the sims 4_stream, info.plist,GraphicsRules.sgr and so on in the folder. The game still tells me its already running. Sorry to trouble you and thanks for the help. - Should I try resetting origin again?
Did you open Origin and re-download the game?

origin told me i had to download the game after I deleted the macOS sims 4. It only took a couple of seconds to download and when I tried starting the game it told me the same error.

Urgh ☹️ Let's start from new again. If you want to keep any saves you have then move the Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto your desktop or to another location.
- Right click on the game in Origin and choose Uninstall
- Next, run the Origin reset tool
- Now drag the Origin app from your Applications folder to the Trash
- Empty the trash and restart your Mac
- Re-download Origin, install it and sign in
- Download the game and see if you can play.
