Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

Scratch folders are created in the saves folder when you launch the game. They are normally automatically discarded by the game when you quit it however, if your game crashes or freezes and you force quit it they are not removed. You can safely trash them and try to reload your game.
