Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

Hello!

I just purchased Cottage Living, but I can't launch the game anymore cause it says it is already running. I have a Mac, and I have tried everything: repair the game, uninstall and reinstall it again, save the folder on desktop, etc.

See the solution on page 1 to fix the already running error. It is caused by the game not having permission to access the Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder.
