What's too hot and what can I do? (CPU temperature, M3)
Imac (2023), Sonoma 14.3.1.
24-inch, M3 chip
RAM: 24 GB
memory: 1TB
Got my new iMac a few days ago and played a few times. The game didn't recognize the graphics (or something) and gave me the ultra settings.
It runs great and fast, looks fantastic, and all that.
I quickly noticed that it got hot and noisy, which I expected from my 2012 iMac. Checked the CPU, which too often reached 130% (and bounced back 80%).
Got a TG Pro trial to monitor the internal temperature, which reached 103C at some point.
Apple support mentioned the recommended temperature the PC should be in, but not the internal one.
The internet didn't give me a clear answer.
Thanks to TG I got some more fan action and could keep it around 90-96c
Consistently being at 95-100c while playing for hours can't be good in the long run?
I have tried lowering the settings, window mode instead of fullscreen, and turning off game mode.
Nothing seemed to have a decreasing impact on CPU usage or the temperature.
Any tips, or is this normal?
