In the Origin app, right-click on the gear icon next to the Play button and select "Repair".
Re-installing and clearing household inventory worked for me. I hope it works for you too. I know how bad it sucks ☹️

Update:
uninstalled everything and removed all sims data from macOS
reset and fully reinstalled origin
reinstalled sims 4 and all packs
Clicked update and repair prior to loading the game
this has made a HUGE difference, the loading screens are still slower than I’d like but at least they’re under 4 minutes now. This is the only thing that helped me - repair made no difference prior to this
I tried doing this method and now i can’t even download sims to my hard drive 😩
