bwaykaylee Are you sure you don't have a third-party antivirus running? Windows Defender's Controlled Folder Access sometimes triggers this error, but more often it's another program. And did you repair after disabling Defender? Sometimes that's required after disabling the antivirus causing the problem.
As a side note, I absolutely would not go without an antivirus at all. But it's fine to disable yours for testing as long as you don't do anything else at the same time, and turn it back on when you're done.
