Accidentally closed origin during Sims 4 update?

Okay so Origin was installing the latest patch for The Sims 4 and it was nearly done when I accidentally closed the window. When I reopened Origin the box art and play button for the game were greyed out and I spent a good few hours last night trying everything to fix it. Origin won't search for an update for the game and I tried clearing the cache but nothing happened. I'm not exactly a gamer or a computer whiz, so if the solution for this is really simple and I'm just an idiot then sorry! I just really don't want to uninstall and reinstall the game at the risk of losing my families and saves. Any advice?

I don't see any option for "repair game" - the only options I have are:

    Play (greyed out)

    View game details

    Remove from favourites

    Check for update

    Customise box art

    Game properties

I'm on Windows 8 if that makes a difference? I'm completely at a loss here.

Try right clicking the game in Origin, and choose 'repair game'.

Also if you do decide to reinstall the game, make a back up, you can read more about that on this page:

  • Try logging out, closing Origin fully, opening it again as administrator (right click), and log in with you email instead of you username.
