After installing the expansion "For rent" the Swedish text turned into English

I have had the SIMS4 since it was released and I have 43 working expansions. Everything worked great in Swedish for many years.
Then I installed the 44th expansion; "For rent" and after that all text was in English in every part of the game.
After having read a lot about this I changed the registry keys for the language used in the game, from en-US to sv-SE.
Then the game showed Swedish text - YES! But NO... all text connected to the new expansion "For rent" is missing.
And there is no fall back to English... great programmers at EA...
So, I now have a lot of blank text in the game and I have tried getting the support to help my either getting my money back for the expansion which clearly does not support any of the Nordic languages (and a lot of other languages as well it seems), or to make the expansion use Swedish text. Maybe there are a lot of language packs missing in the product I bought. I guess that must be it. Maybe the installed expansion was meant for another market?

Anyhow, I need to get this fixed.

  • @urren54  Try deleting the language string for EP15 (For Rent) and repairing the game.  I believe the string Sims 4 should be using right now is the one in Delta, not in the main Sims 4 folder, for example:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Delta\EP15\[string]

You can try deleting that entire EP15 folder instead before repairing.  You can also try deleting the pack itself—the EP15 folder directly inside "The Sims 4"—and reinstalling it, but I don't think that will help given that the Delta folder has its own string.

The more drastic move would be to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4, this time in Swedish.  That might also be simpler if your download speeds are decent.

Thank you so much for pointing this out to me!
The Swedish string pack is indeed missing in the EP15 folder.
All other folders have both an English string pack and a Swedish one.

Deleting the English string pack and repairing did not do the trick unfortunately.
In fact the repair took a really long time since it downloaded 21.5 GB of files before even starting to repair.
After the process of repairing the SIMS 4 and all of the expansion packs, the English string pack in the EP15 folder was back in place.
But as mentioned; the Swedish string pack is still not there.

It really looks like EA have messed up bad this time.
The EA app is far from bug free and I really miss Origin.

I don't think a complete re-installation of everything will make the Swedish string pack appear in the FOR RENT expansion pack.
I think EA forgot to include it for downloading.

Prove me wrong, any one - and please send me the Swedish string pack. :-)

@urren54  Do you have a string for Swedish in the main EP15 folder, the one directly in "The Sims 4" rather than in Delta?  If so, you can try copying that file to the EP15 folder inside Delta.

The language strings are program files and so can't be shared on this site.

Unfortunately both EP15 folders miss the Swedish string file.
Right now I doubt that there is such a file in this world - there must be a reason for it not be included when I install or repair.

I have been in contact with no less than nine different persons at EA support, but only get answers like; "Pleas follow these instructions for changing language in your game:" and then there are instructions on how to switch languages in the EA app... which does not have to do with the problem at all of course. And even if it were, none of the Nordic languages are to be found in the list of available languages in the EA app. Origin was way better IMHO.

Thanks for your effort to help out!

Since the EA app did not react to clicks on "Uninstall", it was not possible to uninstall SIMS 4 the way it is intended to be uninstalled.
I deleted all files from the harddrive and then all traces of SIMS 4 in the Windows registry.
Then I installed SIMS 4 and my 44 expansions again - and this time I got all Swedish string files, and everything works great!!!

Thank you so much for your time and effort to help!

    Cheers!
