All my households are empty

All of my sims households are empty. This is what the manage households menu looks like when I open it up:

And this is what appears when I try to click on a household that is already moved in:

I can't play on any of the households, and no sims appear anywhere. This problem started out of nowhere and my game is now completely useless. How do I fix it?

Note: yes, I am using mods and CC. However, none of them ever caused this problem before. I also ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT stop using mods and CC, as without it the game is very boring and has very little to do in it. The fact that this glitch appeared long after I started using the mods indicates that that is not the problem, so don't even suggest that I delete my mods and CC, because that is not the solution.

  • Hi @ImprovShoes

mods and cc get outdated with patches with patches so it's possible that one or more of your mods/cc is no longer compatible with the game.

For troubleshooting you should remove them all and test without them. If it works when you remove your mods folder, then one or more mods/cc is no longer compatible with the game and you have to find those.

    Use the 50/50 method: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content

Also backup your saves before attempting because you will loose all the cc in the game when you remove it: https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/backups/

Once you figured out which mod/cc is causing the issue, you can remove that one (or check if it has been updated by the creator).

It has nothing to do with the mods/cc.

The problem persisted even when I turned off Mods/CC completely.

EDIT (crin): Removed all caps and extra-large font cause that's considered shouting and against the TOS

Have you also tried repairing the game through Origin ?

Right click on the game and choose repair game.

Okay, I tried your way, and it still did not work.

It is not an issue with the mods/CC.

Did you test this on a fresh save as well ? Is it happening there as well ?

Yes, I did. I deleted my old save and tried again. It's still happening.

Have you tried resetting your entire user folder yet ? There have been a few suggestions made in that direction so I'm not sure if you tried that.

Just rename the user folder, then try on a fresh save.

Could you also post your Computer's DxDiag?
