All was fine.. now 120% CPU by Sims 4.. have to close within 3-4 mins

Why has Sims 4 suddenly started to go wrong?! I've played it for 61hours it says.. but since a few days ago whenever I open Sims, within a few minutes it's getting so hot. I then look at Activity Monitor on my Macbook & the CPU is crazy! Absolutely crazy. It usually uses maybe 30% and runs at a warm temp.

I have to shut the game after 2-3 minutes.. After maybe 1min of gameplay. What is this?! Why has it suddenly started going wrong? I haven't changed any settings that I know of. Have restarted my laptop, thinking it might be something to do with background apps such as Adobe Cloud. But it isn't.

Help! I want to play the game I spent money on.

Has it ruined my video card after 61hrs of normal play?

    Need more info please -

Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your desktop and select About This Mac. Please provide the following information (you may need to click on More Info depending on what operating system you're running:

    - Operating System (Version)
    - Mac model
    - Processor
    - Memory (RAM)
    - Graphics

    - Are you running any antivirus?
    - Do you have Time Machine/Spotify/Dropbox or similar running?

    - Have you tried to repair the game in Origin? Right click on the game in My Games and select Repair Game.
    - Do you use CC/Mods? If so, have you tried removing them and seeing if that fixes your problem?
    - What Expansion, Stuff and Game Packs do you have installed?

Thanks for your help! Really appreciate the assistance. I'm not very savvy when it comes to stats and things but always keep an eye on the CPU usage as I use CAD and Photoshop a lot for my degree, which are always quite labour intensive on my Macbook!

    Version 10.10.2 Yosemite

Macbook Pro Retina (late 2013 model)

    2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

    16GB memory 1600MHz DDR3

    Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536MB

No antivirus. Always close Spotify when not in use. I don't have Dropbox anymore.

Time Machine.. It's switched on. Didn't realise it was on actually. I manually back it up onto my external hard drive every few months. Would it be Time Machine doing it? I've never understood the need for Time Machine- I don't really understand it.

I've tried to repair it like you said but that's made no difference.

Don't use any mods or anything.

Just have the base game and the Spa game pack

Firstly, update your Mac to the latest release of Yosemite, 10.10.4. Secondly, as long as air can circulate under your Mac so it doesn't overheat I wouldn't worry. Games are intensive and really use a lot of processing and graphics power. Also, turn off Time Machine if you're not using it. Have you upped your graphics options recently in game? Maybe turn them down a notch, see if that makes a difference.
