Anyone else stuck in "The Setback?"

Ok, this will be lengthy, and I apologize in advance.  I am dozens of hours into Sims4, and I cannot get beyond "The Setback".  It is not configured to deal with my game playing style, apparently.  I am the weird one who builds my Sims skills out to the max right out the gate.  This is causing me to not be able to complete and progress beyond "The Setback" (they sure labeled that one correctly!). I'm still baffled that the EA person was shocked that I would be upset about losing a lot of hours of gameplay - most recent count was five restarts to try and complete it.  No dice.  So, now we cannot complete nor move forward at this juncture.  A little bright nugget was provided: "If you have issues that you will lose progress then make a backup of your progress." I apologize if the font is too large, but I'm losing my eyesight, so here we are.  If anyone has any insight on what right looks like to be able to wade through this cesspool that is currently Sims4, I would be eternally grateful.

I cannot complete it because my Sim has already maxed out her PC skills, and you can't undo that.  I have given up after 3 days of messing with it.  I've deleted the entire instance and will most likely never play a magic user again.  Pretty mad that EA gives zero craps about not building the program to include the ability to complete the task when they don't bother to inform you of the requirements and assume you haven't maxed out the Sims' skills.  All it would take is for them to provide an option to remove a skill level or at least let us know in advance that if you have maxed out the skills, understand you will never be able to finish it.

Aislynne485  The Set Back has six objectives:

    1. Activate the time travel component.
    2. Repair or replace the computer.
    3. Burn off steam by exercising for an hour.
    4. Get something to eat.
    5. Ask Emit about the malfunction.
    6. Overlock a computer.

I can't understand which of these objectives would be impossible to complete at level 10 programming. I know (because I experienced this) that you can't complete step 2 on an unbreakable computer, but you can buy a cheap computer and use that one instead.
