Forum Discussion
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share my resolution to those with 64 bit computers/laptops and not being able to play normal sims 4 but given the option/forced to download legacy - when you really don't need it!
I traversed these forums and tried different tips from different threads so thought I'd put what worked for me into one post. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Short Answer:
Clear your cache https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/ or uninstall and reinstall game (save your files first) https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
Long Answer (step by step)
1.SAVE your save files either to desktop or external drive, whichever you see fit. - Guidance here
2. DELETE your Sims Game - scary I know but this is the only way I could.
3. REINSTALL the Sims 4
4. COPY your saves back into your newly created Sims folder
5. If it isn't already selected, change the launch graphics to 64 bit -
- Right-Click on the game in Origin and choose Game Properties
- Click on Advanced Launch Options
- Switch to 64 bit
You should now be able to play as normal!
If you have CC etc I'd suggest saving them too, ofcourse.

The game is tied to your Origin account so whenever you log into your account the game will be there.
