Audio cuts out, game crashes after installing Snowy Escape

After installing Snowy Escape and the latest update on PC, the game now crashes every time I play. About 20 minutes in the audio will cut out, and shortly after that the game itself stutters and freezes, then crashes to desktop. (I double-checked that my game is up to date today, and I don't have any CC or mods.) Any known fixes? The Sims had never crashed even once on this PC, prior to the November updates.

I've also tried doing repair game, but that process has some kind of resource leak that makes it impossible to complete with the amount of expansions and packs I have. Repairing the base game will take only 3-4% of my CPU resources, but then when it moves on to the next pack it's using 15-30%, the next one uses 50-65%, and I can't get past 4 out of 36 packs before Origin is using 100% of my CPU. (And I don't see a way to execute the repair action 1 by 1, but please let me know if there is one.)
