Blue flashing box in place of family portrait

Hi, well after I had a problem with loading the game, I renamed the old file and started a new. Game loads, but when I go into a saved family home they are missing and when I return to the world all the family portraits have been replaced by a blue flashing box?

If you mean that you renamed the Sims 4 folder letting the game create a new one then it is because you are missing the items in the tray folder from the old the Sims 4 folder.

Hi. I understand what you are saying, but that is not the problem as it is the first thing I checked, after experiencing the problem as I copied both the save and tray folder from the older file, Also, this is not the first time that this has happened, it happened on my old system just after the Cats and Dogs patch came out and the system that I am using now is a higher level than the old one and that does not explain why the plot is empty?

If you have any Mods or CC please remove them and try again.

First, if I remove my mods/cc folders then the game will work fine so stop saying stupid things like that. Second, I had this problem back in November last year and since then I have spent a considerable amount of money and time up dating my system, only to find that has not fixed the problem. And yes I know that there is some sort of conflict between the game and my cc and that is what I want help with to try and determine what is causing the conflict?

Since you have determined that your Mods/CC are the cause. Remove all and delete localthumbcache.package. Then add it back a little at a time and test the game until you have found all that are broken. Look for updates where you got it. Notice that you must do this every time there is an update to the game.

@PWORR94  Mods and cc are created by users and EA does not over see the creations of these items. That being said these mods and cc are untested by the EA Sims team. When there is an update there is no way of knowing your existing mods and/or cc are going to work properly. As there is no common control there could be mods/cc in conflict where one or the other may work by themselves but when both are used there are issues. Part of the troubleshooting process would be to remove external game parts to see if that is what is causing the issues before troubleshooting the game itself.
