Blurry Sims/Unrecognized Graphics Card

I am having an issue with blurry sims. I recently purchased a new laptop and when I launched Sims 4 I received a notification that my graphics card was not recognized and my settings would be set as high as possible. So far the game is running smoothly but my sims look blurry. I can only get their image to sharpen when I zoom in my camera. I turned off post-processing effects and that did not help. I also tried setting my graphics to medium but that only made the problem worse. In addition any time I try to change my graphics in the display section, my screen freezes and I have to hit ctrl alt del to get out of fullscreen mode. I then get a notification saying the changes I made cannot be applied. I have an intel i7-6500u processor with intel hd 520 and nvidia geforce 940m graphics. Not sure if it matters but my os is windows 10.

Hi, thank you for your timely response. I have attached the requested info.

I haven't played around with the settings too much because the screen tends to freeze when I try to and I have to go to my task manager to get out of the game. I have also taken a look at the nvidia control panel but I don't understand any of the terminology so I don't feel comfortable messing around with it unless given instruction to do so.

Would you be able to specify what my recommended settings should be based on the information I provided you with?

    Thank you!

I am using a laptop computer with no external monitor, just an external keyboard and mouse. I have made sure the game is using the Nvidia card and I am still encountering the same issue. Everything in my game looks good except the appearance of sims, mainly in the facial region. Lines appear blurred and jagged, I can only get a crisp image when I zoom in at close proximity.

Could you post some screenshots how it looks for you ?

Also a screenshot of your current graphics settings would be helpful.

Meanwhile you can also update your Nvidia drivers as they are from September and there were new ones in January
